Developing a NYC Police Brutality Resource Brochure
"Stonewalled" Report
Event Thursday, October 20, 2005
Amnesty International"s OUTFRONT Program has just published a groundbreaking
report entitled: Stonewalled: Police Abuse and Misconduct Against Lesbian,
Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender People in the US. The report focused on
police brutality cases in 4 cities: New York, Chicago, LA, and San Antonio.
On September 22, 2005 at Amnesty International's Offices in the 4 cities,
they hosted a press conference announcing the publication of this report.
OUTFRONT organizers would like to invite the entire community to a community
event to be held on October 20, 6 pm, at the LGBT Center in Manhattan.
There they would detail the main elements of their report, their will be
testimonies from the community, as well as music, performances and poetry.
In preparation for this event, OUTFRONT is also asking the community to
submit their organization as a resource for its current project to develop a
Police Brutality Resource Guide for publication and distribution at this
event.
The Police Brutality Resource Guide will be available for distribution at
the event, and will also be made available via OUTFRONT"s website.
