Bolivians Back President Morales
La Paz, Jul 26 (Prensa Latina) Although internal and external media
intend to present him seiged by enemies, Bolivian President Evo Morales
is unperturbed, calmly confident in the people's strong support of his
leadership and administration.
He made that assertion in an exclusive interview to Prensa Latina,
during which he spoke about hindrances to his administration and other
issues.
He said just 40 percent of the social and political problems we have to
do directly with the government, and the rest are relevant to other
authorities like regional governments.
The president cited a recent survey that gave him 67 percent of
citizens' approval, with 72 percent support for his government, and
warned that "they will not be able to threaten us."
That buttressing, higher than 53 percent, which anointed him in 2005 as
the first president with absolute majority of votes in decades, has
determined that Evo Morales handles difficulties more peacefully.
Besides, two million demonstrators from La Paz and neighboring El Alto
municipality rejected on July 20 a regionalist and conservative
campaign to transfer the government headquarters to Sucre, a southern
city, which is the Bolivian historic capital.
That intention is part of an offensive to weaken the government and
frustrate the Constituent Assembly, established in 2006.
