Rice, Livni Agree on Mideast Peace Conference

Tel Aviv, Aug 1 (Prensa Latina) US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice
and Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni announced Wednesday they
believe an international Lebanon peace conference, rules understood to
be defined by Washington, would resolve that Middle East conflict.

It is also understood Washington would make the conference conditional
on exclusion of those considered radical, like Hamas (Islamic
Resistance Movement), Syria and Iran, among others.

After their meeting in a Jerusalem hotel, Rice and Livni told media
this proposal is important to ease tension, highlighting that the
Palestine government of Mahmoud Abbas is "thrown into the international
principles for peace."

The Islamic Resistance control of the Gaza Strip since July is illegal
the US asserts, and Al Fatah and President Abbas are on the West Bank,
a separation of powers that illustrates the differences of criteria on
power implementation and the construction of Palestine's future.

Regarding negotiations with the Palestinian people, the Israeli FM
favored beginning with less complex issues of common interest, before
dealing with others like Jerusalem and the problem of the refugees.
