Increasing Women Participation in Revolution Programs
Havana, Aug 3 (acn) The participation of Cuban women in the social
programs developed the Cuban Revolution has continued to grow in 2007.
A large female component of the active labor force in Habana province,
the territory surrounding the city capital, is reported in the fields
of health care and education; while in the case of gastronomic services
and domestic commerce women make up for 72 percent of the total labor,
said the general secretary of the Cuban Women Federation (FMC) in the
territory, Teresa Hernadez.
Hernandez pointed out that the participation of FMC members is also
noticeable in the scientific sector, where women make important
contribution in the fields of genetics and biotechnology. Women have
also played a crucial role in what is known here as the University Work
Brigades, with outstanding contribution to community work; they also
work as multidisciplinary teachers, health care technicians and arts
instructors.
The local FMC executive said that Cuban women have also served as
internationalist workers with outstanding contribution to the health
care and education sectors in countries like Venezuela, Pakistan,
Bolivia and other nations of the world. Cubanews/lach
