Central American Ministers to Debate Child Labour

Panama Aug 5 (Prensa Latina) Ministers of Education and Work from
Central America and the Dominican Republic will meet in this capital
next week to discuss the problem of child labour in the region,
informed sources from the organizing committee of the meeting.

The presidents of the Episcopal Conferences of Panama, Honduras, Costa
Rica, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Guatemala and Dominican, will also attend
the meeting, to be held on August 8 and 9.

The meeting is aimed at agreeing on policies and programs that allow
"ending with child labour and forging a decent life for children," says
a report from the Panamanian Ministry of Education.

Regarding this, it plans to adopt inter sector strategies, aimed at
guaranteeing the children's right to education, prevention and
eradication of child labour, as well as the protection for teenagers in
the workplace.
