ECLAC To Hold Seminar on Migration and Development

Havana, Aug 6 (acn) The phenomenon of migration related to development 
in Latin America will be analyzed in a seminar organized by the 
Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, beginning 
August 7.

The seminar aims to promote consideration of internal and international 
migration trends into the public agenda and local and private 
decision-making.

It is According to the announcement in the organization's website, the 
overall aim of this project is to build knowledge of the migratory 
process, both internal and international, in Latin America and the 
Caribbean in order to assist governments and the development community 
in elaborating public policies to maximize the positive impacts of 
migration on regional development.

This seminar is part of a joint project of the same name launched in 
2006 by the Economic Development and Population (CELADE) divisions of 
ECLAC, with support from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
