Colombia, Venezuela Mediate Friday
Bogota, Aug 30 (Prensa Latina) Bilateral economic issues and Venezuelan
mediation in a humanitarian accord between the Colombian government and
the guerrilla will center talks Friday between Presidents Alvaro Uribe
and Hugo Chavez.
The agenda also includes trade, tolls along the border zone, the
construction of a bi-national gas pipeline and the possibility of a
prisoner exchange.
The Venezuelan president's visit will be in the Hato Grande
presidential estate, on the outskirts of north Bogota, where both
statesmen will talk about those topics for over four hours, first at a
meeting and then in a private lunch.
Although Uribe and Chavez will have little time to analyze affairs of
great magnitude, many people here consider the Hato Grande meeting a
new stage for the internal Colombian conflict.
