US Seeks an Attorney General

Washington, Aug 30 (Prensa Latina) President George W. Bush is immersed
the process of choosing a candidate to fill the vacancy of Secretary of
Justice, left by Alberto Gonzalez after being cornered by scandals
during his term of office.

Several senators urged Bush to submit a candidate of unity for the post
to avoid confrontation around his approval.

Political analysts say Bush has the opportunity to provide the country
with someone who will put respect of the Constitution over all,
especially over the Republicans party¢s interests.

The government has sent proposals to influential senators from the
judicial committees of the Senate and the House of Representatives to
fill the vacancy Gonzalez will leave in September 17.

After being hounded by the questionable dismissal of eight judges and
scandal of illegal telephone tapping authorized by Bush, the resigning
official leaves an office in crisis.
