Costa Rican Unionists Condemn FTAA
Havana, Sept 10 (acn) Costa Rica's National Association of Public and
Private Employees (ANEP) has reiterated its condemnation of the Free
Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA) which is affecting the economy of
Latin American countries and the workers' interests.
The condemnation was made in a declaration addressed to progressive
organizations and to the Permanent Observer Mission to the Organization
of American States (OAS) before the referendum on the FTAA to take place
in that Central American Country on October 7.
ANEP's stance has been distorted by pro-government sectors which have
tagged it in their mainstream media as a threat to national peace and
democracy.
In their letter to the Observer Mission to the OAS, the Costa Rican
trade unionist noted that those attacks are unavoidable and confirmed
their decision to keep on fighting for their motherland's integrity.
