At UN, Bolivia Defends Links with Iran

United Nations, Sep 25 (Prensa Latina) President of Bolivia Evo Morales
defended the sovereign character of his government in establishing
relations with other countries, including Iran, in a working breakfast
with foreign journalists at the United Nations on Tuesday.

Morales made it clear that relations with Iran, including new
cooperation agreements in the field of energy, are oriented to more
development rather than death.

He said these links will be consolidated in La Paz Thursday at the
visit of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadineyad.

"We agreed to open this accord and diplomatic relations with Iran, not
to harm or offend anyone, but to complement each other and improve the
country"s economic situation," said Morales as he explained that "we,
indigenous families, are for the culture of dialogue and life, without
marginalization or discrimination, based on unity, solidarity and
complementarity." hr ccs rma ga PL-45
