US Generals Blast Iraq Policy
Washington, Sep 25 (Prensa Latina) A dozen US generals joined the wave
of criticism against President George W. Bush's administration war
policy in Iraq, San Diego Union-Tribune daily published on Tuesday.
Retired General Paul Eaton highlighted that the Bush government seems
immune to good advice, but military experts have the responsibility to
say their opinions to foster the necessary changes in the military
strategy.
Retired top officer John Batiste stated that he has the moral
obligation and the patriotic responsibility to address Washington's
mistakes in relation to the war in the Middle East.
As a consequence of the tragic war in the western Asian nation, many US
retired military agents are openly criticizing their top commander.
Besides, the officers are asking their old friends that still occupy
powerful positions to use their influence to bring about a change in
the Pentagon policy to Iraq.
Trying to stop public opinion, the Republican president supported the
past week, for the first time, a partial military withdrawal.
In a speech from the oval office, the president made two confessions:
there are still serious difficulties in the battle front, and the final
decision about the war could be transferred to the next US
administration.
