China Delivers 200 Articulated Buses to Cuba
Havana, Sept 28 (acn) The Chinese Yutong Bus Company has delivered 200
articulated buses to Cuba on the occasion of the 47th anniversary of
the establishment of bilateral relations between the two countries.
According to a report from PL news agency, the buses will arrive
shortly in the island where they will be incorporated into urban
service.
Yutong, which is one of the leader bus companies in Asia, had
previously sold 1,000 buses to Cuba that are already in service in all
the provinces throughout the island.
The delivery was made by the President of Yutong Bus Company, Tang
Yuxiang, to the Cuban ambassador in China, Carlos Miguel Pereira.
The official ceremony was held in the city of Zhengzhou, the capital of
Hunan province, 600 kilometres south of Beijing. The act was attended
by the deputy president of the Provincial Popular Assembly, Wang
Mingyi, and 25 Cuban technicians who are being trained in the handling
of the new equipment.
Pereira highlighted the strengthening of Cuba-China bilateral relations
and noted the positive impact of the new buses on the Cuban economy
which has suffered a brutal blockade imposed by successive US
administrations over the last four decades.
Pereira also pointed out that Cuba-China bilateral relations are at
their best and noted that the commerce between the two countries
amounted to over 2 billion dollars in 2006.
