US Blockade on Cuba Denounced in Russia

Moscow, Oct 1 (Prensa Latina) The more than 45-year economic,
commercial and financial blockade imposed on Cuba by the United States
government has caused losses of more than 89 billion dollars, Cuban
expert Fidel Castro Diaz-Balart said on Monday.

Castro Diaz-Balart, a scientific supervisor of the Cuban State Council,
is the head of the Cuban delegation to the second World Forum for
Graduates from Russian Universities and spoke at today's plenary during
the inauguration of the event, which will close October 3.

"This criminal action, against which 183 countries voted in the United
Nations, is today trying to increase hunger and hardship for 11 million
Cubans," he denounced.

The scientist emphasized Cuba's peaceful nature and its opposition to
terrorism in any of its manifestations.

For fighting against terrorist actions, five Cuban men have been
confined in US prisons over nine years, he said.

"The Cuban culture and identity are in constant interaction with the
best contributions from other peoples of the world, we support
civilized dialogue, tolerance and respect for international law," he
added.
