Che Guevara Remembered in Chile

Havana, Oct 3 (acn) One of the Cuban survivors of the guerrilla forces
led by Ernesto "Che" Guevara in Bolivia in the late 1960s, Harry
Villegas ("Pombo"), is in Chile to participate in a number of
activities organized in that South American country to pay homage to
the legendary Argentinean-Cuban guerrilla fighter on the occasion of
the 40th anniversary of his death.

Villegas, who is meeting a tight agenda in Arica, some 2,000 kilometers
north of the Chilean capital, has held talks with local authorities and
members of political youth organizations from that province.

The former comrade of Che also met with the Camilo Cienfuegos Group in
Solidarity with Cuba in that Chilean province, which borders on Peru
and Bolivia, reported the PL news agency.

The Cuban international combatant will travel Wednesday to Iquique, 800
kilometers north of Santiago de Chile, and will be back in the capital
by the weekend to participate in other activities commemorating the
anniversary of Che Guevara's murder.

During his visit to Chile, which will extend until October 16, Villegas
will participate in additional events in solidarity with the island
that are planned to take place in the cities of Rancagua, Concepción,
Chillán and Lota.

Villegas was a comrade-in-arms of Che Guevara in the Cuban struggles of
liberation and later in international missions in the Congo and Bolivia.
