Bolivia Govt Tries to Save Constituent Assembly
La Paz, Oct 28 (Prensa Latina) The Political Council, created by the
Bolivian government to save the Constituent Assembly, insists on a
dialogue to find a solution to the issue of power transference,
demanded by the Chuquisaca department.
That mediatorial authority is expected to discuss three alternatives on
Monday to define the forum"s future.
Angel Villacorta, of Unidad Nacional -UN- one of the Assembly"s vice
presidents, told Prensa Latina the idea that Sucre and La Paz hold
talks, and the Council concludes the analysis of other issues, as the
autonomous regions" authority.
There is also the alternative of closing the Constituent Assembly, as
an agreement, he said.
He also said establishing the forum sessions in another department
would be a third stage.
Sucre"s Inter-institutional Committee rejected the Council"s proposal
of constitutionalizing the so called Ciudad Blanca -White City- as the
Republic"s capital, and establishing there the headquarters of the
judicial and electoral powers, as well as other proposals.
Nationalist Revolutionary Movement member Guillermo Richter said it is
essential that Chuquisaca and La Paz reach an agreement about the
complex issue of the capital.
