At UN, World Will Respond to Bush's Diatribe Against Cuba: Ortega
Havana, Oct 29 (acn) The UN General Assembly will debate the United
States blockade against Cuba, in what is expected to be a repeat of the
severe international condemnation of Washington for this punitive
measure against the island.
For the 16th consecutive year, the United Nations General Assembly will
analyze and vote on the resolution entitled Necessity to put an end to
the United States commercial, financial and economic blockade against
Cuba.
Speaking from Managua, Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega said that
many people around the world are with Cuba and ratified his
condemnation of the blockade, reports Granma newspaper.
The Sandinista leader said that an almost unanimous support of Cuba on
Tuesday in New York is expected, which will reflect the international
community's response to the recent anti-Cuba speech delivered by US
President George W. Bush.
"It was a disrespectful and interventionist diatribe," said Ortega, who
added that, despite attacks from Washington, "the important thing is
that Cuba is strong, alongside Fidel."
