Angolan Graduates Mark 30 Years of Cuban Scholarships

Havana, Oct 29 (can) Over 500 Angolan youths who graduated from Cuban
universities and technical schools held a ceremony in Luanda over the
weekend to mark the 30th anniversary of the opening of scholarships for
Angolan students in the Caribbean Island.

During the gala, held at the Herois de Chavez Park, in the Angolan
capital, participants paid tribute to former Angolan President
Agostinho Neto and to Cuban Revolution leader Fidel Castro, Angola
Press Agency reported.

The ceremony was also attended by Angolan Head of State Jose Eduardo
dos Santos, government officials, Cuban representatives, and members of
the MPLA movement and other organizations.

Participants stressed the willingness of both countries to enhance the
training of Angolan youths in several fields of society.

Some 20,000 Angolan professionals have studied in Cuba since 1977
in light of bilateral cooperation accords between the two sister
nations.
