FMLN Presidential Candidate to Tour El Salvador

San Salvador, Oct 29 (Prensa Latina) The presidential candidate for the
Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front (FMLN), Mauricio Funes, will
tour 70 Salvadoran cities this year.

In his first public appearance since the death of his son, Alejandro,
Funes said that he would ask the grassroots to take to the streets and
refute the right wing's terror campaign and to convince undecided
voters prior to the 2009 elections.

He added that he would visit 15 departmental capitals and strategic
municipalities, where he would call progressive and democratic forces
to create alliances.

Speaking at a rally in Soyapango on Sunday, Funes called FMLN members
to "fight fear of a change of government by those who think that voting
for the FMLN is to vote for a sort of jump to the void."

Funes, who is supported by large sectors of Salvadoran society, and
his ballot partner, Salvador Sanchez Ceren, will be ratified as
presidential candidates on November 11.
