Venezuela Deputies Demand Posada Extradition, Blast Bush Cuba Policy
Caracas , Oct 29 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan deputies to the Latin
American Parliament (PARLATINO) reaffirmed Monday the extradition
demand for terrorist Luis Posada Carriles, currently residing in United
States.
Posada Carriles, who participated in torture and disappearances when he
was an official of the Venezuelan DISIP political police, escaped
from a prison to avoid a trial for the explosion in midair of a Cuban
commercial plane in 1976 with 73 passengers aboard.
A declaration from the group states that the position was presented by
Walter Gavidia, president of the Venezuelan group to the PARLATINO, in
a recent meeting of deputies from this country, Cuba and Ecuador held
in Quito.
The Venezuelan legislators also repudiated a recent declaration against
Cuba by US President George W. Bush and that northern country's
blockade imposed for over 40 years to the island.
They also demanded release of the Cuban Five anti-terrorists, Gerardo
Hernandez, Fernando Gonzalez, Ramon Labanino, Antonio Guerrero and Rene
Gonzalez.
