"Thinking Against the Tide"

International Essay Contest Launched in Cuba

Havana, Oct 30(acn) The Cuban Book Institute launched its 5th
International Essay Contest 'Pensar a contracorriente' (Thinking
against the Tide). Works will be accepted until November 15.

The contest seeks to promote the current essay trends covering the
problems and challenges of the world facing imperialism. It encourages
the research and analysis of subjects that are not usually covered by
the big editorial circuits.

Authors from any countries can submit their work. It should be an
unpublished essay about the struggles to achieve a better world, and be
no less than 20 pages.

The works will be analyzed by an international jury, which will grant
three prizes and as many mentions as deserved. A book containing all
the awarded essays will be published later.

The results of the contest will be announced in February 2008 during
Cuba's 17th International Book Fair.
