Cuba Reducing Use of Energy Resources: Lage

Havana, Nov 19 (acn) Cuban Vice President Carlos Lage affirmed on
Saturday that there is an economic growth on the island as it reduces
the use of energy resources through saving and efficiency.

Lage, who noted that the country is currently consuming 7% less of
diesel and 13% less of gasoline, explained that the Energy Revolution,
rather than a task, is a permanent concept in favor of saving and
efficiency not only in the generation of electricity but also in the
reorganization of public transportation, the distribution of products
and state controls.

The leader, who toured several facilities linked to the generation of
energy in central Cienfuegos province, also inaugurated the first of
three small power generating plants that use fuel oil and that will
benefit 30,600 families in the municipalities of Cruces, Santa Isabel
de las Lajas and Palmira.

Lage also visited the Carlos Manuel de Cespedes thermoelectric plant
where he was briefed about the modernization of Unit 4 of the power
plant that will be able to use improved crude oil in an efficient and
stable way.
