Bush Administration: Far from Law and Order
By Angel Rodriguez Alvarez
AIN Special Service
The US foreign policy towards Cuba from the first day of the triumph of
the Revolution in 1959, especially during the last 7 years, has been
characterized by aggression and violations of international laws and
norms.
During the last ten successive US administration's attempts to destroy
the Cuban Revolution, it is not easy to define which government has
been the worst, but many analysts believe that such an honor goes to
the current George W. Bush team.
Such an opinion has its history and in a tight synthesis of the White
House conduct in relation to Havana will show the role of this
administration against Cuba.
Since 1992 to date, the UN General Assembly has approved a resolution
demanding an end to Washington's economic blockade against the island
16 consecutive times. Such a demand from the international community
who in 2000 was approved by 161 countries and in the last four years by
over 180, far from being lifted, Washington has tightened it even
further in the White House's illegal war.
The Bush Plan, a subversive program elaborated with the objective of
destroying the Cuban government, is a document presented and approved
personally by the US who has made it clear to the world that the
document is the official government position in relation to the island.
Bush openly proclaims his right to intervene in Cuba's internal
affairs, assigning multi million dollars for such purposes and sending
his Secretary of State and Transition Coordinator, in his position as a
modern Pro Consul, around the world to promote the anti Cuban policies
among allied governments.
This gross interference, which lacks the elemental principles of
co-existence among states, has announced the creation of a special
office to carry out espionage in Cuba and Venezuela.
It is no secret to anyone that Washington has turned its Interests
Office in Havana in a source of internal subversion, where small right
wing groups organized from the Interests Section itself leave the
building with money, propaganda and orders in close coordination with
their counterparts in Miami.
The most recent disrespect by the White House towards an international
institution was recently held in Geneva. It was during the World
Conference on Radio Communications where the institution announced the
illegality of the transmissions beamed from the US to Cuba.
It is important to recall that there are 22 radio transmitters from the
US towards Cuba and a television station with over 2,000 hours a week
of programming towards the island, with false and manipulated
information and even calling for the execution of terrorist activities
against the island.
The conference ended with a statement: "a radio station that works on
board an airplane and only transmits towards the territory of another
administration without authorization is not in agreement with the
International Radio Communications Regulations."
The arrogant and illegal reaction of the irritated US representatives
did not wait, and with all its arrogance and disrespect for
international laws, they declared that "we will continue with the
policy of transmissions towards Cuba".
Once again the White House intention was expressed. Such conduct took
place only 15 days after the 184 UN member nations demanded an end to
Washington's economic blockade against Cuba and barely three weeks
since Bush called on other nations to join its anti Cuba policy.
