Bolivia Again Suspends Assembly
Sucre, Bolivia, Nov 21 (Prensa Latina) The Bolivian Constituent
Assembly leadership suspended the much expected restarting of its full
sessions on Wednesday, due to the insecurity reigning in Sucre spurred
by opposition assembly members.
The forum's First Vice President Roberto Aguilar announced the new
deferment because of the continuous vandalism around the site.
This makes the third consecutive postponement of the restart of
debates, and physical and verbal attacks on the indigenous community
have increased, under the auspices of Sucre civic authorities.
Aguilar denounced that the constituent members of Podemos (Social
Democratic Power), the main opposition force, are instigating violence
to hinder the debates by alleging a supposed secret initiative by the
government MAS (Movement Toward Socialism).
The frustrated agenda planned for today included a report about the
talks between the Commission for Dialogue and Chuquisaca's
Inter-institutional Committee.
This delay jeopardizes the success of the important forum, suspended
due to the conflict about the capital of this Andean country
- the Sucre demand to move all State powers from La Paz.
The commission for dialogue, created to mediate between the Assembly
and Chuquisaca's Inter-institutional Committee, presented a report
about the issue yesterday.
