Persian Gulf Nations Will Study Iran's Cooperation Plan
Havana, Dec 4 (acn) The heads of State of the Persian Gulf Cooperation
Council agreed to study the economic and security cooperation plan
presented by Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadineyad, reported Prensa
Latina news agency.
"We will study the proposals to strengthen good neighboring and mutual
respect relations with the Islamic Republic, and contribute to the
efforts for protecting the security and stability of the Gulf," says an
official report published on Tuesday.
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad submitted Iran's proposal on joint
investment in oil and gas projects in the opening ceremony of the 28th
summit of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) in Doha, the
capital of Qatar, Monday.
The plan encourages an alliance with neighboring countries and includes
12 proposals for cooperation in education, tourism, bank sectors and
the protection of the environment, as well as the creation of a free
trade zone and the cancellation of visas.
"We can turn the Persian Gulf into the gulf of peace and friendship for
good through mutual support and coordination" Ahmadinejad said, reports
the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).
