Ecuador FM Officially Resigns

Quito, Dec 6 (Prensa Latina) Ecuadorian Foreign Minister Maria Fernanda
Espinosa officially resigned for health reasons Thursday, presenting a
report of her nearly a year in office.

Espinosa confirmed her resignation to several ministers and
high-ranking officials after reporting on an independent and innovative
foreign policy aligned to the regional integrationist process.

"We have paved the way to obtain a revolutionary Foreign Office and to
be at the level of the citizenship revolution," she emphasized.

Among the main achievements during her mandate, she mentioned the
drafting of the 2007-2010 Foreign Policy Plan, which outlines the path
for the Foreign Office.

She also highlighted the positive management of the border conflicts
with Colombia.

The outgoing official, whose resignation was accepted by President
Rafael Correa, ratified her unconditional support to the Ecuadorian
socio-economic process of transformations.
