Cuba, Spanish Autonomous Region of Galicia Sign Collaboration Accord

Havana, Dec 7 (acn) The Spanish autonomous region of Galicia committed 
to strengthen collaboration with Cuba in priority areas such as health, 
conservation of historical patrimony and the rehabilitation of houses 
and kindergartens.

Emilio Perez Tourino, President of the government of the Autonomous 
Community of Galicia in Spain signed accords with Marta Lomas, Cuba's 
Minister for Foreign Investment and Economic Collaboration (MINVEC).

In the meeting held at the MINVEC building in Havana on Friday morning, 
Lomas thanked the autonomous government for the aid offered to Cuba and 
said this is a step forward in strengthening bilateral relations.

The programs will also apply to the education field, by means of
workshops, joint research, exchange of teachers and postgraduate 
courses in universities.

This is the first visit of Perez Tourino to Cuba, and marks the
centennial of the Galician national anthem "Os pinos" (The pine-trees), 
which was first sung in Havana in 1907.
