Eco-March against Climate Change
Bali, Indonesia, Dec 8 (Prensa Latina) On Saturday, Trade ministers
from several countries discussed possible policies to fund actions to
fight climate change while ecologists from over 50 cities all over the
world demanded less words and more facts.
Representatives from US, Australia, Brazil, Portugal and Indonesia,
among others, turned up at a two-day meeting on Saturday to discuss
possible links between policies of commerce, investments and climate
change.
This is the first time Commerce Ministers meet to debate on climate,
emphasized the Indonesian Trade Minister Mari Pangestu.
In addition, Canberra's envoy Simon Grean affirmed that the response to
climate change has created important opportunities of jobs and commerce.
Meanwhile, environmentalists called by “Globalize Yourself” association
took to the streets in several parts of the planet to create a global
movement annually that prompts responsible attitudes.
The Ecologists in Action Organization demanded the Summit in Bali to
establish ambitious bases in the struggle against climate change,
starting in 2012.
The Kyoto Protocol was a small step but is essential and urgent to
design bigger measures to avoid catastrophes, they warned.
