Immigrant Workers to Throw Raucous New Year's Eve Protest
Against Top Rated Seafood Company
WHAT: Immigrant employees of the top-rated seafood
wholesaler and retailer, Wild Edibles, will crash the
$95 a plate New Year's Eve party at the Wild Edibles
restaurant.
Delivering a message of 'Tame Wild Edibles', the
workers will demand an immediate end to retaliation
from their employer.
WHY: The Wild Edibles employees have filed a class
action lawsuit for unpaid overtime and have joined a
labor union but the company has responded with illegal
retaliation including firing nine of the workers. In
addition to its own restaurant, Wild Edibles provides
seafoods to some of New York's most famous eateries
including Tavern on the Green and La Goulue. Yet,
Wild Edibles workers are laboring under illegal and
exploitative conditions.
WHO: Spirited immigrant employees and supporters from
their union, the IWW, and the non-profit supporting
them, Brandworkers International. Workers will be
wielding home made signs and banners and will be
chanting for justice.
WHEN: Monday, December 31st at 6:00pm
