Spain's King Visits Troops in Afghanistan

Madrid, Dec 31 (Prensa Latina) King Juan Carlos arrived in Afghanistan
to visit Spanish troops that has been prominent in that Asian country,
where 86 Spanish soldiers have died since 2002.

The monarch, who will be 70 years old on Saturday, traveled accompanied
by the Defense Minister Jose Antonio Alonso and chief of the General
Staff Felix Sanz Roldan.

At this moment, there are 742 Spanish soldiers in Afghanistan members
of the so-called International Security Assistance Force.

Juan Carlos made similar visits and at the same period of the year in
1998 and 2002, to the Spanish forces in Bosnia and Kosovo, respectively.

In addition, President Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero will travel to
Lebanon next month to visit Spanish soldiers, members of the UN Forces
in that country.
