I sraeli Attacks in Gaza Kill Eight Palestinians

Gaza City, January 3 (RHC)-- The death toll of those killed in Israeli
raids on the Gaza Strip has risen to eight after a bullet-ridden body
was found near the Israeli border in Beit Hanoun in the northern Gaza
Strip on Wednesday afternoon.

The director of ambulance and emergency services in the Palestinian
health ministry, Mu'awiya Hassanain, said that the latest victim was
taken to Kamal Udwan Hospital. Hassanain added that 18 injured men were
hospitalized during the past 24 hours, three of whom sustained serious
wounds.

According to news sources, six Palestinian activists were killed and
several others wounded on Wednesday morning in a series of Israeli air
raids and a simultaneous ground incursion in the Gaza Strip. Hamas'
military wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades, announced the death of three of
their members after Israeli warplanes fired three missiles at a group
of activists in the Ash-Shuja'iyya neighborhood.

After a second Israeli strike, the Al-Qassam Brigades announced the
death of activists Yousif Shamali and Mus'ab Jundiyya. Israeli
warplanes fired missiles a third time at another group of Al-Qassam
Brigades fighters, killing at least two members with the military wing
of the Popular Resistance Committees.

News sources described fierce clashes between Palestinian resistance
fighters and the invading Israeli forces in Gaza. The Israeli army
claims that the air attacks came after Palestinian militants launched
anti-tank missiles at Israeli invasion forces.

Israeli Attacks Kill Five in Gaza and West Bank

Gaza, Jan 3 (Prensa Latina) At least five Palestinians were killed and
more than 50 were wounded on Thursday, after the Israeli Army attacked
the West Bank and Gaza, according to security sources.

One of the attacks took place in the town of Kan Yunis, in southern
Gaza, where a tank opened fire against a house, killing a woman and her
three children, two of whom were members of Islamic Jihad.

At least nine people, including children, were wounded in the same
operation, the sources added.

A combatant of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) was killed and
30 people were wounded in another attack that destroyed three houses
suspected to be shelters for militiamen, Hamas activists said.

Hamas has controlled the Gaza Strip since June 2007, when it expelled
the Al Fatah forces lead by Palestine President Mahmoud Abbas, after
weeks of clashes.

Parallel to the operation in the Gaza Strip, more than 70 tanks and
military vehicles entered the city of Naplusa, in the West Bank, where
more than 20 people, including a ten-year-old boy and four members of
the Al Aqasa Martyrs Brigade, were wounded, the sources noted.

The troops raided the Rafidya Hospital and houses in the old quarters
of Naplusa in search of wounded militiamen. They captured at least four
alleged activists, according to security sources.

The two operations were confirmed by spokespersons for the Israeli
Defense Forces, who told Israeli public radio that the actions were
aimed at stopping the "terrorist threat".
