Bolivia: Future Hinges on President's Talks with Mayors

La Paz, Jan 7 (Prensa Latina) Bolivian President Evo Morales, and the
nine departmental mayors plan to talk about the current political
panorama Monday, a dialogue raising huge expectations nationwide.

The governmental headquarters Palacio Quemado will host an event with
open agenda and unpredictable results, but with the presence of the
main antagonists of national politics.

ó The objective of the government is to begin the process with an open
agenda, with no mediators, observers, or guarantors, because the best
guarantor will be the Bolivian people, ó affirmed Alex Contreras,
spokesman of the executive power.

The approval of the new Political Constitution, autonomous statutes,
and redistribution of resources from the Direct Tax on Hydrocarbons
(IDH) feature among the topics.

ó We want to develop a joint working timetable for the 2008 to benefit
Bolivians by seeking long-lasting, consensual solutions, ó Contreras
highlighted.
