Cuban Broadcaster Gladys Goizueta Simal Died

Havana, Jan 9 (acn) Cuban announcer and radio program director Gladys 
Goizueta Simal past away on Tuesday in Havana, victim of a lung cancer 
at the age of 54.

In recent years Goizueta held the post of vice president of the Cuban 
Association of Cinema, Radio and Television of the Union of Cuban 
Authors and Artists (UNEAC). She was also an associate professor at the 
Communications Faculty of the University of Havana and the Jose Marti 
Institute of Journalism.

Gladys' voice is tied to the recent history of Cuban radio where she 
began working in 1970, reads an article published by Granma newspaper. 
For her devoted career she received several recognitions including the 
National Culture Award, the Majadahonda Award from UNEAC and several 
awards from the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR).
